Artist: Hong Yu
Artist's reflection: Simply using the color white to paint a winter landscape scene isn't enough to convey the environment Hong encountered. His use of shading; long, short and sporadic brush strokes; and spacing of objects are critical elements to bring his art alive.
Hong Yu, who is originally from a rural setting, has a deep connection with the four seasons and a special affection for their characteristics including the rain, snow, wind and frost. During his 1,000+ kilometer journey from Anhui Province, China to Beijing, China he captured these characteristics and the atmosphere that enveloped him. Through his artwork, Hong likes to convey to others what he sees and how his heart interpets it.
