Artist's reflection: This contemporary painting by Hong is darker than some of his other works and a bit more washed out. However, it is similar to his other works in that viewers can add in more details in their minds to create a unique viewing experience. 
 
Hong Yu, who is originally from a rural setting, has a deep connection with the four seasons and a special affection for their characteristics including the rain, snow, wind and frost. During his 1,000+ kilometer journey from Anhui Province, China to Beijing, China he captured these characteristics and the atmosphere that enveloped him. Through his artwork, Hong likes to convey to others what he sees and how his heart interprets it.
