Artist's reflection: In this contemporary painting, Dong creates to parts: 1) the bright stark sky and 2) the dark, but also striking mountain and ground below. The color choices, shading and brush strokes all  work together to create a beautiful landscape painting. 
 
Dong's contemporary watercolor paintings are mainly based on the natural scenery of the four seasons. Many of his works are created from his travels or daily life. His paintings are simple and generous, but pass on to the viewer unique feelings about the four seasons. It is as if through the paintings the viewer can feel the the comfort and calmness of close contact with nature.
