Artist: Niu Yuhe

Artist's reflection: The bitten apple is derived from the Bible and appears in the work as a metaphor for the relationship between men and women. The Chinese text on the right often appears on trees. People engrave "I love you" or each other's names on a tree, and the inscription allows the text and the tree to grow in time, like scars on a body. The bite in the apple is like a wound. The love of the sexes is also accompanied by harm. These two apples use Cézanne’s apples.

In Chinese art and general art history for students, apples are also often used as the subject of still life. This explanation is an introduction to this artwork, but the artwork does not need to see that the apple originated from Cézanne.
