Artist's reflection: This art depicts the transformation of soldiers from the Ming Dynasty who stayed so long in Guizhou that they became farmers whose swords became ploughs. To help pass the time they also carved wooden masks and held singing and dancing events. These events have become a folk tradition in Guizhou.
