Artist: Hong Yu
Artist's reflection: While multiple parts of this painting do draw viewers' attention, Hong does it in a different way from some of his other contempoary paintings. The colors aren't quite as stark upon first perception and thus not as important. The spacing of the objects is more important to creating segmentation.
Hong Yu, who is originally from a rural setting, has a deep connection with the four seasons and a special affection for their characteristics including the rain, snow, wind and frost. During his 1,000+ kilometer journey from Anhui Province, China to Beijing, China he captured these characteristics and the atmosphere that enveloped him. Through his artwork, Hong likes to convey to others what he sees and how his heart interprets it.
