Fan Chun-yi is the epitome of a what it is to be an artist. Since graduating from Taipei National University of the Arts where he majored in screen writing, he has had a fulfilling career as a calligrapher, poet, author, song writer, singer and broadcaster. His versatility has brought him notoriety across Taiwan.
Fan is no doubt an original and creative contemporary artist. Even as a contemporary calligrapher and poet, in particular, he still draws inspiration for his Chinese calligraphy and poetry from ancient Chinese master poets such as Du Fu.
The collection of calligraphy he has shared with us are solely developed by him, are Chinese proverbs that he as modified, or are the original Chinese proverbs. Importantly, the calligraphy you see is his unique style based on how he perceives the world and what he feels.
